
General description: The
heartwood color varies from pale straw
to light reddish-brown. Although not
very resinous, resin ducts appear on
longitudinal surfaces as fine brown
lines. It has wild grain patterns
with conspicuous growth rings.
Working Properties: The wood
works easily with hand or power tools
and has very little dulling effect on
the cutters. It nails and screws well.
Uses: The species produces the
most valuable softwood in North
America. It is widely used in general
carpentry for residential and
commercial construction.
