General description: The
heartwood is usually creamy-white to
grey in color, sometimes very pale
brown or greenish-purple. Straight
grained and inclined to be wooly;
texture fine and even.
Working Properties: Poplar has
only a slight blunting effect on
tools. Very sharp, thin cutting edges
are
required to overcome the wooly texture
and produce a good finish. Nailing is
satisfactory and gluing is
easy. The surface will take paint
well.
Uses: Used for interior joinery
and well as furniture framing and
drawers.
