Hardwood - Pecan/Hickory:

General description: The wide sapwood is preferred to the heartwood and is sold as Hickory. Mostly
straight grained but sometimes wavy or irregular, with a course texture.

Working Properties: There is a moderate to severe blunting effect on cutters and a reduction to 20% is
required for planning or moulding irregular grain. Pre-drill for nailing, gluing is satisfactory; it can be
stained and polished to a good finish.

Uses: Wheelwrights work, chair making, ladder rungs, tool handles, sports goods and drum sticks.
